Yet to be identified political thugs, on Tuesday, declared Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West, APC) persona non grata in Kogi State.
The political thugs, suspected to be loyal to Governor Yahaya Bello, made the declaration through unsigned pamphlets distributed at the naming ceremony of the Lokoja Administrator, Hon. Shiru Lawal.
They warned that Melaye risk being attacked if he visit the state.
The Kogi West Senator is billed to tour the seven local government areas in the senatorial district this week to commission projects.
In a swift reaction, Senator Dino Melaye said he had formerly informed the Police command of his thanksgiving tour of Kogi West to commission his various projects in the zone.
He said his goal is to empower his immediate constituency by embarking on various projects.
He explained that he will be commissioning meaningful projects across all the seven local government councils of the state starting from Wednesday stressing that as far he is concerned, nobody can prevent him from visiting his state.
The Public Relation officer of the Kogi State Police Command, Mr. William Ayah confirmed that the Police is aware of Melaye’s home coming but said it’s not aware of the threats as contained in the pamphlets distributed by unknown persons.
