…urges stakeholders to encourage young talents
By Comrade A. M. Nasir.
The member representing Ankpa 2 constituency at the Kogi state house of assembly, Hon Alhaji Alfa Momoh Rabiu has called on stakeholders at all level to encourage young talents in the film industry.
Hon Rabiu made the call while playing host to the national executives of the Igala Films Forum at his residence, the Kogi state house of assembly quarters in Lokoja noting that the trend of immortality among Nigerians is inimical to our culture as a people and hence, all hands must be on deck to checkmate the situation through indigenous movie productions.
“If the phenomenon is not checked immediately, it is capable of degenerating into immoralities that will become norm in the society the same way and manner we see happening in the western worlds… So, producers should stop emulating alien cultures and promote our rich cultural heritages without inferiority, rather than emulating absurdities,” he said.
The member further appealed to political and traditional leaders in the country to advocate for local film production among their subject to encourage and discover young talents.
In attendance during the courtesy call visit were the National president of the forum Mr Thompson Jnr Makolo, the National secretary, Farouk Umar and other executives.
