Kogi Government has opened bidders conference for Forestry Revenue Service for 19 pre-qualified investors under Public/Private Partnership (PPP) in environment sector across the 21 local government areas of the State.
Arc. Bob Achanya, Director-General of the Kogi State Bureau for Public/Private Partnerships (BPPP), disclosed this at the Bidders Conference with the potential investors on Thursday in Lokoja.
Achanya said that 19 companies had been pre-qualified for category E (Forestry Revenue Service) which has five lots across the three senatorial districts of the state.
He added that the five lots comprised of two lots for Central, two for Eastern and one for western senatorial districts of Kogi State, respectfully.
He said that any project up to N70 million value would attract a lot bidding fee of N150, 000; N30 to N40 million, N100, 000; N15 million, N50, 000; N10 million value and others, N30, 000,00, respectfully
“The next step after today is completing the documentation and concluding the financial review in line with the conversation, followed by feedback from the ministry,” Achanya said.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mrs Rosemary Osikoya, said that there would be training for preferred bidders in all categories for effective results.
She clarified that the tender fees were different from what happened after the investors became licensed contractors with the state government.
She added that there were obligations on investors to make payment of statutory deposit to government to making sure that they were not owing government, stressing that the pre-qualified investors had been duly informed.
“In addition, a registration fee of N15, 000 will be paid by each contractor, fees paid to BPPP offices are for processing documents at this stage, after which we will talk about personal property hammers and forest demarcation for each component.
“We are working from the unknown to known; this tag we are putting on the revenue is only a guide, as the bureau and the ministry to work in synergy for the success of the investments,” Osikoya said.
Some of the investors, who spoke with newsmen commended the BPPP, ministry and the state government for the process of transparency adopted in the procurement process as exemplified in the bidders conference.
Mr Suleiman Babanawa, one of the investors, said that the government of Kogi deserved commendation on the issue of PPP for giving every investor a level playing ground.
