Kogi: Reps Member Spend N100m on Free Health Outreach, Business Grants

The member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Tijani Damisa has spend over N100 Million naira for the provision of medial treatment and business grants for of members of his constituency.

According to him, the medical outreach featured treatment of over 100 cataract patients, 1,112 malaria patients and empowerment of over 300 persons, who just concluded vocational training in various skills, with N20,000 seed capital.

Speaking in Okene, Kogi State over the weekend during the empowerment programme, Hon. Tijani explained that they have invited a team of medical consultants and surgical experts from far and near to attend to various health challenges and perform free surgeries for different eye conditions as part of his health intervention programme.

He noted that through the intervention, he hope to relieve his peoples’ suffering, restore sight to the blind and rekindle hope in the lives of his respected constituents.

According to him, in spite of the low performance of 2016 Budget, he strongly believe that his constituents still have right to scrutinised his performances against his promises.

He noted that few months after being sworn in, he was able to offer free medical treatment to 100 cataract patients and 1,112 malaria patients in his constituency adding that he also launched three different schemes such as Youth Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Scheme; Women and Youth Skill Acquisition Scheme on domestic product.

Hon. Tijani stressed that the idea of self-reliance became imperative to him during electioneering period when he met a widow who told him that her son dropped out of school because she couldn’t afford to pay his school fee.

“This particular story has left a lingering impression on me because of the tone of desperation I heard in that woman’s voice, and I am certain that there are so many people out there like the old woman,” he said.

He also mentioned that within the year under review, he has given scholarship to over 400 students and he was able to influence the employment of over 15 qualified persons from his constituency in various strategic places of work at senior cadre.

He stressed that once the implementation of 2017 Budget commences, many people-oriented programmes and projects will be executed to meet the yearnings of his people courtesy of his humble legislative efforts.
