The All Progressives Congress (APC) appeal panel set up to look into the problems emanating from Senatorial Screening Committee, has upheld the disqualification of Honourable Samuel Bamidele Aro, a senatorial aspirant in Kogi State.

This curious decision is coming on the heels of the intervention of party leaders, yesterday, to allow Sam Aro contest primaries.

The panel sitting in Lokoja had upheld the earlier verdict of the screening committee which disqualified only Sam Aro out of the seven aspirants screened.

The panel headed by Dr Fatima Abba Kaka stated that it received a five-page affidavit from the aspirant in his appeal against the decision of screening committee of APC in Kogi.

The panel concluded that, “Having found Honourable Aro Samuel Bamidele guilty of all charges raised by the screening committee and in accordance with the provisions of the guidelines shall attract automatic disqualification.”

The screening committee chaired by Mr Davidson Oputteh, had earlier disqualified the aspirant for the Kogi West Senatorial district based on self-disclosed indictment by the EFCC in a matter pending in court.
