Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Halimat Wada has called for a collective fight against diseases such Pneumonia, Dysentery, Diarrhea and other infectious diseases.
Hajia Halimat Wada, Kogi State first lady, gave the charge at her food outreach for widows, orphans and disabled, held at Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Governor’s wife called on well spirited individuals to join in the fight to ensure a disease free environment, said verifiable evidence have shown that using her pet project, KOWEN, lives have been positively impacted in the area of skills acquisition, small scale ventures, micro-credit scheme to petty traders.
She added that her NGO has given Agricultural credit and farm seedlings to female farmers, said her commitment to improve the lives of rural women remains total.
Her NGO, Hajia Halima explained recently donated hand washing machine to schools in Okene, Kogi and Ofu LGA, to mark the global hand washing day, said her NGO will in December embark on medical outreach to complement the efforts of the state government in the area of health care provision.
Also speaking at the occasion, wife to the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Mrs Tokunbo Awoniyi, said the first lady’s initiative as the first of its kind, described the governor’s wife desire to bring succor to the lives of women on the rural areas as remarkable.
Mrs. Awoniyi, described as significant KOWEN’S determination to transform the lives of the less privileged assured of the continuous support of women of Mopamuro to the transformation agenda of Capt Idris Wada.
Highlights of the visit to the Local Government Area was the presentation of items by the first lady to women who in their goodwill messages praised the works embarked upon wife of the state governor .
Earlier, the first lady had paid a visit to the Elulu of Mopa, Oba Julius Joledo, where she commended the Royal Father for his fatherly role and prayed for the success of the Capt Wada led administration.
Responding, Oba Joledo, praised the empowerment programme of the wife of the Governor, describing it as unique and people oriented, prayed for the success of the present administration in the State.
