Chief Clarence Olafemi, one time Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly has been described as a man still living in the past and yet to embrace the fact that there is a new leadership direction in the State.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart in Mopamuro LGA, Charles Owoyori, made the observation while reacting to an interview the former Speaker granted in Seachlite, a community base Newspaper.

Owoyori cautioned the politician to rather than precipitate the anger of the people in Mopamuro over the lacklustre performance of his leadership during his time of political relevance, accept the new order in the area that is been positively used to reposition the council area.

In his words, “I am still surprised that Chief Clarence Olafemi still see’s himself as becoming the next Deputy Governor of Kogi State and so lives in the shadows of his past”,

“Yomi Awoniyi never stopped him from becoming a Deputy Governor. One now imagine why he fails to realise that it was not his destiny and shouldn’t continuously fight a ‘boy’ he claim he has forgiven because of his late father, Chief S.B Awoniyi.

According to Owoyori, when ever Olafemi wakes up from his sleep and realises the fact that he lost becoming a Deputy Governor he vents his anger by insulting the Deputy Governor even with the several litigation still pending in court.

Power, the PDP stalwart disclosed comes from God and rather than the former Speaker using the pages of newspapers to always rain insult on the State Governor and his Deputy, he should accept that he has for now lost the bid to become what he has aspired to become until God’s divine intervention for the state.

In his words “Rather than dissipate energy fighting Yomi Awoniyi as Deputy Governor, I will appeal to the former Speaker who has had the privilege opportunity of serving as Acting Governor in Kogi State to join hands with the present administration in moving the state to another level or better still let him remain silent”, Owoyori adds.

While It would be awkward to ask the former Speaker not to make comment on State issues according to Owoyori, one will only expect that he is constructive in his criticism and should also base his comments on facts rather than inciting the people and using abusive languages to denigrate Governor Idris Wada and his Deputy.

The PDP stalwart maintains that unlike in the past when the Former Speaker held sway in the area’s leadership, appreciated the new leadership in its inclusiveness style of politics and the transparent primaries it conducted for the just concluded PDP Councillorship and Chairmanship election.

Owoyori appealed to politicians in the State to close ranks and work for the common good, progress and development of the state.
