MSH Donates N60 Million Medical Equipment to Kogi State

An international non-governmental organization, Management Science for Health [MSH] with headquarters in Boston, United State of America (USA) has donated medical equipments worth N60 million to the Kogi state government.

Presenting the equipments to the state government, the Country Director of the organization, Dr. Barry Smith explained the objectives of the organization is to save life and improved the health condition of the people, noting that organization is presently operating in over 60 countries worldwide.

According to him, “our focus in Nigeria is to work with the federal, state and local governments in order to save the life of the people by having assessed to good health care treatment and also to work with community based organizations in taking good care of the orphanage and the vulnerable including those affected with HIV/AIDS”.

He then added that the organization is proud and happy to work with the Kogi state government in its effort of improving the health need of the people of the state, stressing that the organization would not relent in its effort in assisting the state to reduce the rate of HIV/AIDS case in the state.

Responding, the state commissioner for health, Dr. Dorcas Onuminya commending the organization for extending its humanitarian service to the state, stressing that based on the good work the organization is doing in the state, the state government has signed additional three years extension programme with the organization.

“We are very happy with the activities of MSH in Kogi state the organization has actually help to fill the gap in the health sector because the state government cannot do it alone a lot of sectors are begging for government attention that is why we are happy with MSH for contributing its quota to the development of the health need of the state.

“I want to use this occasion to appeal to other NGOs to emulate MSH by coming to the aid of the state government by donating materials and equipments in all sectors to the government as part of there contribution to the socio-economic development of the state”, the commissioner added.

Dr. Onuminya then appealed to the benefiting hospitals across the state to make good use of the equipments for the purpose intended and not to turn the equipments into decoration or dump it in their store.
