The Kogi Equity Alliance (KEA) welcomes the communiqué issued in Abuja on 26 October 2026 by the Coalition for Better Kogi State (CBKS), and stands fully with its call for the governorship to shift to Kogi West at the November 2027 election.
KEA has advocated this cause consistently and publicly, before the Kabba Day address of Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi. Our position has never been about party, tribe or personality. It is about equity. Kogi West has not produced an elected Governor since the creation of the State in 1991, and that is a fact the people of every senatorial district can verify.
It is encouraging that this call is now carried by a multi-party coalition drawn from Kogi East, Central and West. This confirms what KEA has always said: rotation is a State-wide agenda for fairness and lasting stability, not a sectional demand.

KEA also supports the coalition’s call for an independent audit of salary arrears owed to Kogi workers, and for a transparent public response to the concerns families have raised about missing persons. We urge the authorities to answer these questions openly.
On the State’s payroll, Governor Usman Ododo has publicly acknowledged that, in his words, “as it is now we don’t even have civil service, it’s empty completely.” KEA notes his pledge of a transparent, advertised recruitment, and welcomes it. Yet the State’s salary bill has reportedly risen sharply, and no official recruitment has yet taken place. KEA therefore calls for an independent audit of the Kogi State salary structure, to verify the number of workers on the payroll, confirm that every salary goes to a genuine employee, and publish the findings. KEA also asks that recruitment be based strictly on merit and the law, with no political card or voter registration as a condition for any public job.
KEA calls on all Kogites, across party lines, to rally around this cause of fairness, justice and unity. Power shift to Kogi West is not a favour to any zone. It is the correction of a 35-year imbalance, and the people of Kogi State will see it through together.
Justice for One, Stability for All.
