Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, has been recognised as the Best Performing Honourable Commissioner on Youth Empowerment Programmes in the North Central Region by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.
The recognition, according to the newspaper, is in appreciation of Gegu’s contributions to youth empowerment, skills development, economic inclusion and community-oriented initiatives, particularly efforts aimed at creating opportunities for young people to become self-reliant and productive members of society.
The award forms part of Democracy Newsline Newspaper’s annual recognition of public officials whose programmes and activities demonstrate measurable contributions to governance and human capital development.
Gegu, who has continued to play an active role in the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has been associated with initiatives focused on empowering young people, supporting grassroots development and encouraging economic participation among youths across Kogi State.
According to Democracy Newsline, the recognition also reflects the importance of youth empowerment as a critical component of sustainable development, especially in the North Central region where young people constitute a significant part of the population.
