Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Mourns Passing of Mrs Alice Salawu at 107

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mrs. Alice Salawu, who died on June 9, 2026, at the remarkable age of 107.

In a condolence message to the Salawu family, the Senator described the late matriarch as a symbol of resilience, wisdom, and God’s enduring grace, noting that her long life was a testament to a legacy of faith, hard work, and service to humanity.

The Distinguished Senator aid she received the news of Mrs. Salawu’s passing with a heavy heart but with gratitude to God for a life that positively impacted generations of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and members of the wider community.

“Mama Alice Salawu lived an extraordinary life marked by dignity, strength, and unwavering devotion to family and community. Reaching the age of 107 is a rare blessing, and her journey on earth remains a source of inspiration to all who knew her,” the Senator stated.

The lawmaker extended her heartfelt condolences to the children of the deceased, including former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Phillips Omeiza Salawu, Barrister John Onipe Salawu, Mr. Monday Salawu, Mr. Peter Salawu, and the entire Salawu family.

According to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, the vacuum created by the passing of such a respected mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be deeply felt, but the family should take solace in the enduring legacy she left behind.

“While we mourn her departure, we must also celebrate a life well spent. Mama’s legacy lives on through the values she instilled in her children and the countless lives she touched throughout her 107 years on earth,” she said.

The Senator prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and for God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“On behalf of the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District, I extend my sincere condolences to the Salawu family. May Almighty God comfort you during this difficult time and grant Mama Alice Salawu eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan added.

Mrs. Alice Salawu is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other relatives. The family has announced that burial arrangements will be made public at a later date.
