Attempts by political opponents to diminish the relevance of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, appear to be having the opposite effect, as his grassroots supporters continue to rally around his 2027 senatorial ambition.
From communities and wards across Kogi Central, Bello’s supporters are projecting a message of loyalty, experience and continuity. For them, political relevance is not determined by opposition narratives but by the confidence and commitment of the people.
The residents of Kogi Central point to his experience as governor, political network and continued connection with the grassroots as reasons they believe he remains a formidable force in Kogi politics.
“The more they try to write Yahaya Bello off, the stronger the people’s determination becomes. You cannot suppress a movement that lives among the people.”
As the 2027 election approaches, the battle is increasingly shaping up around one fundamental question: who can best represent the interests of Kogi Central at the National Assembly?
For many residents and Bello’s supporters, their answer is unequivocal: experience, accessibility and proven political capacity matter.
They are therefore taking the message from the political arena to the streets, wards and communities, urging voters to look beyond political propaganda and judge leaders by their records, experience and capacity to deliver.
With the 2027 contest drawing closer, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Yahaya Bello remains a powerful grassroots force, and the movement behind his political ambition is far from fading.
The people will have the final say at the ballot box.
