Bandits, on Monday evening, attacked Odo-Ere community in Yagba West local government area of Kogi state, killing an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
It was gathered that the NSCDC officer, Mr. Ayo Olukotun, was shot in the head during the attack.
A source confirmed that Mr. Ayo was rushed to a medical facility but was declared dead on arrival. His remains have since been deposited in a mortuary.
The attackers reportedly abducted his first daughter before fleeing the area, but another source confirmed that the wife and children escaped.
Otunba of Ere Land, Hon. Tunji Aro clarified that the slain officer’s daughter was not abducted.
“The security people really tried their best if not because of their involvement and intervention nobody knows what could have happened. The area I want us to clear with is the language that the lady was rescued from the hand of the bandits – she hid somewhere and came out on her own this morning.”
