Kogi Education Commissioner Tasks Contractors Handling AGILE Projects on Strict Adherence to Specifications

Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, has charged contractors handling schools renovation across the state to abide by project specifications.

Jones gave the charge while inspecting ongoing renovation works on 728 government owned schools under Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project on Monday.

According to the Commissioner, the inspection was to ensure that contractors work in accordance with the contract specifications and standards.

He charged the contractors handling various projects not to compromise standards in the execution of the projects, saying that the state government will not condone any shoddy job.

The Kogi state government, he said, is committed to ensuring that learners and teachers have a conducive environment to learn and teach.

He reiterated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s commitment to revamping the education sector and called on the contractors to deliver the projects on time.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the AGILE State Coordinator, Comrade Tijani Oricha, the Special Adviser on Education, Hon. Abdulmalik Abdullahi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Alabi Albert Bamigbade and some staff of the Ministry and AGILE.

Schools visited are Adavi LGA Standard College Iresuha, Community Secondary School Ege, Government Day Secondary School Okunchi, Government Secondary School Kuroko, UBE/JSS Okunchi, UBE/JSS Nagazi Uvete. In Okehi a team led by the Permanent Secretary visited Government Girls Unity School Oboroke, Ihima Community Science Secondary School, Government Technical College Oboroke, Okehi Community Secondary School Ikuehi Ihima, UBE/JSS Eika Ohizenyi and UBE/JSS Usunqwe while in Ogori/ Magongo a the team led by the Special Adviser on Education visited Community Comprehensive High School Ogori, Government Science Secondary School Ogori/Magongo, Magongo Community Secondary School Magongo, UBE/JSS CMS Ogori and UBE/JSS Aiyeromi Ogori
