The Convener, Vote For Us Campaign, Amb. Aliyu Mahmud Amoto, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a resignation letter sighted by Kogi Reports, the Okene-born politician said his decision stems for the party’s lack of credible reward system in Kogi state.

He berated APC in the state for taking its loyal supporters for granted.

Full text of his resignation letter:

Dear esteemed progressives,

I wish to humbly inform you of my decision to resign my membership from the Kogi State All Progressive Congress (APC). My decision stems from the party’s lack of a credible reward system and clear-cut approach to governance. The events of the past years have been a source of concern for many well-meaning party members. Despite the efforts of dedicated party members, their contributions have been taken for granted for far too long.

It is on record that I have served this party diligently over the years and have never jumped ship even when we have many reasons to do so. I have been in this party from its inception, and have endeavoured over the years to work hard within the party framework to help build a formidable political party, it has however become clear to me that this party has lost focus and has largely deviated from its core values. We have shared both positive and negative experiences in our efforts to build a kogi state of our dream but it appears that the reward for our collective efforts has been privatised for few individuals who have constituted themselves into a cabal (system)

The party leaders and the APC-led government seem uncertain about how to move the state and its people forward. A party that relies on the strength of its youth but fails to plan for its future is not worthy of the service and commitment of any upright young person. A party that rewards disloyalty over loyalty is destined for failure.

I would like to express my gratitude to all my brothers and sisters who have been part of this journey with me over the years. I appreciate your efforts and the memories we have shared. I crave the indulgence of all my friends, supporters, and well-wishers to respect my decision at this auspicious moment to redefine the destiny of our dear state.

Thank you all.
Sincerely,

Aliyu Mahmud Amoto (Ambassador)
