As Nigeria continues to navigate complex political and economic challenges, the importance of strong, experienced, and influential representation in the National Assembly has never been greater. For the people of Kogi Central, the conversation around who can best champion their interests is increasingly pointing in one direction, former Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
Across the senatorial district, political observers, community leaders, youth organizations, and party stakeholders believe that sending Bello to the Senate would mean giving Kogi Central not just a representative, but a powerful voice capable of attracting development and influence to the district.
Bello’s journey in public service is widely described as one marked by courage, innovation, and decisive leadership. When he assumed office as governor, he quickly emerged as one of the most influential political figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and across Nigeria’s political landscape.

But his leadership story goes beyond politics, it is anchored on performance.
During his administration, Kogi State witnessed several infrastructural and social interventions that significantly impacted communities, particularly in Kogi Central, where Bello enjoys strong grassroots support.
Road construction and rehabilitation projects opened up previously underserved communities, improving mobility, commerce, and connectivity between towns and villages in the district. These projects not only eased transportation but also stimulated local economic activities.
Education also received renewed attention. Schools across the state were rehabilitated and upgraded, while policies aimed at strengthening learning environments helped improve access to quality education for thousands of students.
Healthcare infrastructure equally benefited from Bello’s development agenda. Several health facilities were upgraded and equipped to provide better medical services, especially for rural communities that had long struggled with access to healthcare.
Security, another major concern for many Nigerians, was handled with firmness during Bello’s tenure. Through strategic collaboration with security agencies and the implementation of proactive measures, Kogi State maintained a reputation as one of the most stable states in the North-Central region during challenging periods.
Yet perhaps one of Bello’s most defining contributions to Nigerian politics was his bold push for youth and women inclusion in governance. His administration broke longstanding political barriers by appointing young professionals and women into key leadership positions, earning national recognition for promoting a more inclusive government.
Today, supporters say these achievements demonstrate the kind of leadership Kogi Central needs in the Senate, a leader who understands governance, commands political respect, and possesses the influence required to attract federal opportunities to the district.
Within the APC, Bello remains a formidable political figure and a respected party bigwig whose voice resonates strongly in national political discussions. His political network, experience in government, and ability to mobilize grassroots support make him one of the most strategic leaders from the North-Central region.
For many constituents, the question is not whether Bello has the capacity to serve, but whether Kogi Central can afford to miss the opportunity of sending such an influential leader to the Senate.
Representation in the National Assembly, they argue, should be about impact, visibility, and the ability to fight effectively for the interests of the people.
Supporters believe Yahaya Bello has already proven he possesses these qualities.
If entrusted with the mandate of the people of Kogi Central, many believe his presence in the Senate would mark the beginning of a new chapter, one defined by stronger advocacy, increased federal presence, and accelerated development for the district.
For them, the message is clear: Kogi Central deserves not just a senator, but a leader with the courage, influence, and experience to deliver results.
And in their eyes, Yahaya Bello fits that description.
