The Ekinrin-Adde community in Ijumu Local government area of Kogi State will come alive from June 20 to 27, 2026, as the Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association (EACDA) rolls out activities for its annual Ekinrin-Adde Day Celebration and Awards Night.
The dates were confirmed in a statement issued by the EACDA National Publicity Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel Ajibola Ogungbuyi, who described the programme as a week long celebration of culture, unity, development, and growth.
According to the statement, the festivities will commence on June 20 with the New Yam Festival (Adan), an annual cultural rite that heralds the festive season.
Activities will continue throughout the week, leading to the Awards Night on Friday, June 26 which takes place at the Ekinrin-Adde Events Center, and culminating in the grand Ekinrin-Adde Day Cultural Celebration on Saturday, June 27, at the Baptist High School Open Field.
Cultural performances will feature, with groups expected to showcase the rich traditions and heritage of the community. The popular Akogba Mountain hike will also form part of the week long activities where hikers from across the country and beyond will assemble at the town’s market square (Ojude) for medical check-ups before proceeding to explore the Akogba mountain. The exercise will be followed by entertainment sessions, with musicians performing at different strategic locations across the community.
Pastor Ogungbuyi called on sons, daughters, and friends of the community at home and in the diaspora to make adequate preparations.
He noted that the celebration aims to reinforce unity, preserve cultural heritage, and honour individuals whose contributions have strengthened community driven development initiatives.
The 2026 edition, he added, is expected to highlight Ekinrin-Adde’s sustained commitment to cultural pride and collective progress.
