The Ebira Mountaineering Derby, an annual hiking and sporting event that celebrates unity, fitness, and culture in Kogi Central, has appointed the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Anaje, as its Grand Patron.
In recognition of his outstanding leadership style, the Project also presented His Royal Majesty with an Award of Excellence during a courtesy visit to his palace.
The team used the occasion to formally introduce this year’s edition of the EMD, tagged “The Ohinoyi’s Edition,” and to seek his fatherly guidance, support, and prayers.
Speaking at the presentation, the team highlighted that this year’s edition will build on the remarkable success of the previous one while placing greater emphasis on promoting Ebira culture and traditions. The organizers noted that beyond sports and leisure, the event is also designed to empower participants with meaningful rewards, further strengthening the bond of unity and pride among the people of Ebiraland. The initiative continues to gain recognition for its role in fostering community spirit and showcasing the rich heritage of the Ebira nation.
In his response, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland expressed his deep appreciation to the organizers for conceptualizing a project that promotes both cultural values and communal togetherness. He commended the vision behind the Ebira Mountaineerinv Derby and urged all sons and daughters of Ebiraland to embrace their identity and serve as worthy ambassadors wherever they find themselves.
