Survivors Hail Nigeria Forest Security Service, Army for Rescuing 17 Kidnapped Passengers

The survivors of kidnap incidence in Kogi state have lauded Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) and the Nigerian Army for their swift response and the display of gallantry in the rescue of 17 passengers kidnapped along the Lokoja–Obajana road on Thursday.

The victims were said to be traveling from Ilesha, in Osun state, to Abuja when they were attacked by gun men and taken to the forest.

The victims were however freed following the prompt intervention of the Nigerian Army working in close collaborations with the Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS), who pursued the abductors and ensured the safe release of all passengers.

The rescued victims have since been taken to medical facilities for examination and care.

One of the survivors, who craved anonymity, expressed deep appreciation to the Nigerian Army, the NFSS and the government for coming to rescue them.

He called on the government to empower the Forest Security with the necessary legal backing and tools to be more effective in their operations noting that their contributions to securing the forest cannot be overemphasized
