33 Deaths Recorded from Kogi Auto Crashes in One Month

Thirty three deaths were recorded from various auto crashes that occurred in Kogi State in the month of August, 2013.

The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Olakunle Matajo, who disclosed this yesterday, said the deaths were recorded from the 142 crashes that occurred across the state within the period under review.

According to him, 33 people died, 166 sustained injuries, while 30 others escaped unhurt.

He maintained that most accidents on the road are avoidable if motorists change their attitudes.

Matajo, who attributed the crashes to over speeding, dangerous overtaking, dangerous driving as well as violation of traffic rules, urged motorists to  exercise caution while on the road.

He further stated that 1,391 motorists and cyclists were arrested across the state within the period under review.
