300 Students to Benefit from Kogi Speaker’s Education Support Scheme

Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole has concluded plans to support over 300 students across Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State.

This was made known in a press statement issued and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Femi Olugbemi.

Olugbemi stated that the lawmaker understands the plight of parents at this time considering the economic reality in the country, and in the spirit of the season. Kolawole has decided to support the students as they return to school in the new year.

Olugbemi said as part of the Speaker’s promises during the electioneering campaigns to re-position the education sector in the area, the Speaker’s Education Support Scheme is another concerted effort designed to support the youths in the pursuit of their academic career.

He said this is aside the regular scholarship scheme that have over 500 beneficiaries across Okunland, stressing that Kolawole is a man with compassion who is committed to continue to support and assist the people either from his constituency or not.

Olugbemi said the Speaker has proved to be worthy a representative who have raised the bar of representation in the constituency, noting that since coming to office, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole has embarked on, executed and completed many projects asides other initiatives geared towards improving the living standard of the people.

He further said over 80 people have direct employment from the Speaker, aside other empowerment programs for the youths, market women and widows.

According to him, the program will hold on the 12th January, 2017 at the prestigious Hall of St. Augustine’s College, Kabba.

It would be recalled that just few days ago, the lawmaker held his annual town hall meeting where he briefed his constituents on the progressive reports of his activities so far at the assembly.
