A former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Kogi State, Chief Tolorunjuwon Faniyi has promised to lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to victory in Yagba federal constituency.

TJ Faniyi made this known during a brief chat with journalists during the PDP screening of national assembly aspirants in Lokoja on Wednesday.

The former lawmaker said PDP will correct the mistake made in 2019 by supporting the election of incumbent rep member, Hon. Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He explained that PDP members made a regrettable mistake in 2019 by supporting a non-party member at the polls with the hope that Abejide will join the party after winning the election.

He, however, commended Abejide for building on the foundation he laid for education development in Yagba federal constituency.

“Based on the experience I have gathered so far, I believe I can still represent my people so I can do what I know best. I know where the lapses are, and I will correct them all.

“Current member representing Yagba federal constituency is building on what I did when I was in the lower chamber of the National Assembly. I vividly remember between 2003 and 2007, I ably represented my people. I formulated the education development policy to pay 10 brilliant indigent students in each of the 34 wards in the federal constituency, That is 340 students.

“So, if he is coming today and is consolidating on what I started in the past, then we are both working in same direction for the good of our people,” he said.

TJ Faniyi expressed confidence in the support he enjoys among the electorate and pledge to focus more on youth empowerment if elected.
