An aspirant to represent Ijumu constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly in 2019 general elections, Mr. Ojo Bidemi Jerry (OBJ) said his commitment to to serve the people of Ijumu Kingdom is a driving force in his political aspiration.
Mr Jerry revealed that his political aspiration was in response to prompting from opinion leaders in the area who have seen his commitment to the growth and development of the area and their belief in his capacity, zeal and commitment to serve to serve the people of the area.
According to him, he did not just wake up to take the decision of contesting in the next year general elections, his decision was arrived at after wide consultations with the people of the area adding that his decision thou he sees it as a sacrifice but a worthwhile venture. He reiterated his commitment to bring on board legislative framework that will work for the growth and development of the area.
Speaking on his perception of politics he said that he sees politics as a service to human kind pointing out that his mission is to build human development and institutions rather than personal enrichment pointing out that he had come with the mindset of having legacy behind him as a politician who will build institutions that will out live him.
Speaking on his electoral chances, he said that as a young man, he has the capacity to deliver.He said that he is very close to the people adding that for the past five years there is no weekend he does not go home which has made him to feel the pulse of the people.
According to him, in the last five years he has facilitated the employment of nothing less than ten Ijumu youths in blue chip companies across the country.
Mr Jerry appealed to the people of the area to ensure they get it right by voting for a young,competent and intelligent person to represent them.According to him, if his representation will not benefit Ijumu people, he will not get there but if it will be beneficial God will make his aspiration and desires to represent the people come to pass.
