Ahead of 2019 general elections, youths from North Central Nigeria have endorsed the presidential aspiration of Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital on Monday, chairman of the Parliament of PDP Youth Leaders of the zone, Stephen Onoji said Saraki has paid his dues and is eminently qualified to be President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Onoji said Nigerians are tired of “analogue President” and in dire need of a millennium compliant leader that would freely interact with his colleagues and the people through technology.
“The youths of the North central and entire Nigeria are tired of gerentrocracy as president, we need people with capacity, intellectual sagacity and other basic components of leadership, we need a millennium compliant president, this analogue leadership has set us back by 50 years, we have moved back to pre-independence.
“Senator Bukola Saraki, the senate president is a youth and we want our president to spend more time in Nigeria with us and manage our economy and other aspects of life, rather than spending half of the tenure in diaspora hospitals, we are tired of medical tourism.
“We want a president that is a democrat, that has experience in the private sector, a president that has seen it all, we want a man that can accommodate all. If you can see from the example of the senate as it is presently constituted, you will find out that chairmanship of committees is beyond party affiliation, we have a senate president that is the president of the entire senate and not of a particular political party,” he said.
Onoji argued that it was time the north central zone of Nigeria is allowed to produce the president of the country several years after its independence.
He said the senate president with his experience and leadership quality is capable of returning Nigeria to the path to greatness and bring hope to the people of the country.
Onoji however appealed to delegates from the state that would be electing the presidential candidate of the PDP to back the presidential bid of the former Kwara state governor.
“The PDP delegates, especially those from north central should promote their own, if they dont promote their own, no outsider will come and promote him for you, we should pick our best, senate president Bukola Saraki is the best we have now, he has paid his dues.
“Without Saraki, by now we would have been in full blown dictatorship, we need somebody that will unite the nation, I see this in Saraki, who is a detribalised person with cognate experience, we are tired of mediocrity and incompetence. The northcentral has overwhelmingly endorsed Bukola Saraki as the next president of theis great nation”.
