Akawu told the gathering that there is hope that democracy has come to stay with Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“It is my believe that people’s votes will count, especially with our national chairman’s determination to allow people to chose their representatives,”  he said.
In seperate remarks at the well attended ceremony, Mrs Amorley from Lokoja and Maryam Haruna from Kogi local government, who spoke on behalf of women, urged the people to rally round Akawu in his quest to provide quality representation come 2019.
They charged supporters and stakeholders of the APC to work towards ensuring that APC retain Kogi State with Yahaya Bello as Governor and Akawu as member representing Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency in 2019.
Solidarity messages from Kogi and Lokoja local government areas were delivered at the event with a call for Hon Akawu to throw his hat by joining the house of representatives race.
All those who spoke assured that come 2019, they will ensure that Akawu win the election based on his past record of achievements.
They encouraged the people not to allow external influence to alter the already stable political arrangement in the  name of zoning.
