1442AH Eid-el Fitr: Dr Omede Calls for Collective Responsibility, Prayers to End National Malaise

A former Commissioner for Health in Kogi State, Dr Idris Omede CIK has called on Kogi citizens and Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan fast, as it brings an opportunity for spiritual rejuvenation, fortified appeal, requests and supplications.

In his Eid-el Fitr message, Dr. Omede, urged Muslims to call on God Almighty to intervene in the mirades of challenges bedevilling the nation.

He described the current state of insecurity in Nigeria as frightening and severe, adding that it is only through prayers that the prevailing situation will be surmountable.

“The month of Ramadan, is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar of obligatory fast. It is a month of spiritual rejuvenation, fortified appeal, requests, supplications and call on our creator and Lord, Allah, the Lord of the universe to intervene in our individual, states, nation and global affairs specifically and generally.

“As the nation battles and struggles through various moments of yet unending and frightening challenges that has become more severe now than ever before, I pray that the blessing, knowledge, wisdom, mercy, peace, safety, success, favour and blessing of the month of Ramadan be upon us as individuals, our communities, states, nation and the world at large,” he prayed.

He appealed to Nigerians to display patriotic attributes, zeal and positive disposition as well as accept their wrongdoings so as to attract God’s forgiveness.

“As mortals and human beings, may we be on the right path through by our attributes, positive change of attitude and disposition to life, life activities, approach and drives to life. Our Lord is always merciful, beneficent and oft forgiving of our fallibility. We must strive to work and create peace, tranquility and development, through our actions and inactions, with divine guidance and directions.”

Dr Omede called for collective responsibility on the part of leaders and their followers so as to guarantee good governance devoid of crises and suspicion.

“Government and governance structure revolves around the leaders and the led. There must be synergy, understanding, a meeting point and appropriate coordination through knowledge, accountability, honesty, fairness, just and firmness. These are precursor for attainment of desirable impact, result orientated administration and management. Many of our states and the nation in general, require these attribute and characteristics for results and impact now more than ever before.

“May we be the change agent that we desire for positive impact, growth and development in various spheres.”

He wished Moslems in Nigeria many more of this celebration devoid of the current palpable environment.
