YALI, ‘Kogi in Focus’ Distributes Sanitizers, Face Masks in Lokoja

More people are responding to the appeal by Kogi state government to support its efforts in stopping the spread of coronavirus in the state, and to also provide adequate care for Kogites should the virus be recorded in the state.

Latest among these were the Kogi YALI Network and another group known as Kogi In Focus. 

As part of the palliative measures to curb the viral spreads of COVID-19 virus which has shot down almost all human activities across the globe and with recorded cases in some states in Nigeria. The Young African Leaders Initiative Network (YALI) Kogi through a crowd funding initiatives among his members across Kogi state and in collaboration with Kogi In Focus group swung into action, raised fund for a wide awareness, sensitization of the people in the state to stay safe, sound and prevent the further spreads of the virus.

The groups, on Monday, went into the streets of Lokoja to distribute face masks, hand sanitizers to residents.

Areas visited included the Lokogonma market, Ganaja junction motor park, Ibro motor park and some other places within Lokoja city.

The exercise was lead by the Yali state coordinator  Abdullahi Maiyaki (Abdulslimzy) in company of Ibrahim Danasabe, the programs manager for the hub.

The groups said they were spurred by the desire to contribute their quota to the society, a move which they described as the major target of the groups.

Maiyaki said as young people, they needed to take a bold step in taking the awareness to the uniformed and highly vulnerable in the society, and believes that their contributions have gone a long way in amplifying the position of the the government in the fight against the pandemic. 

Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Ganaja motor park appreciated the group and said they were very happy to receive the YALI team saying it was the first time any group or individual in the state will deem it important and acknowledge the road users on the danger that the drivers are likely to encounter during this period.
