Workers’ Strike: Kogi Govt. Unwilling to Dialogue With Labour

The organized labour in Kogi state have advised various groups calling her to shelve the industrial action to direct the plea to the state government.
The call is contained in a statement jointly issued by the state chapters of the NLC, TUC and the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC); Olakunle Faniyi, Kolawole James and Isah Abubakar, Secretaries of NLC, TUC and JPSNC respectively, in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.
According to them, the door of labour is widely open to negotiations, as they are not in any way against negotiations.
They revealed that the state government in the last three weeks have not invited labour leaders either before the ultimatum or during the industrial action invited labour leaders for any form of negotiation.
They however appealed to various groups clamouring for resumption of workers to channel their calls to the state government who have the responsibility to initiate or open doors of dialogue.
They promised the people that they are at anytime ready for negotiations when called upon.
They told government appointees, civil servants and the private sector that Kogi state belongs to all of us and will not do anything to jeopardize the growth and development of the state.
Labour leaders assured workers that their welfare can never be mortgaged.
They called on workers to remain resolute as this is the only legitimate means of getting their demands.
