West African Ceramics to Spend N10m to Fix Collapsed Ajaokuta Bridge

West African Ceramics Limited (WACL), Ajaokuta, Kogi State, said it is spending N10 million to fix the collapsed bridge along ASCO AGM Road in Ajaokuta, Kogi State as part of its corporate social responsibility for its host community.

North Central Trust reports that the ASCO AGM Road, which has served as a relief route to motorists and passengers travelling to the eastern part of the country, has been closed to traffic in the last three months following the collapsed bridge.

General Manager of WACL, producers of Royal Ceramics, Mr. Baskar Rao, who disclosed this, said the rehabilitation work was to ease the sufferings faced by motorists and passengers who ply the road linking the state to the eastern part of Nigeria.

According to him, the rehabilitation became necessary following appeals by well-meaning individuals and organizations on the plights of commuters and motorists, adding that the company is committed to improving the quality of lives of the people.

He said the company is also planning to rehabilitate the failed portion of the Ajaokuta road along the old toll gate to bring succour to road users.

In his remarks, Raj Umar, the Site Engineer, said materials needed for the rehabilitation work have  been fully mobilized to site, with excavation and re-chanelling of the water  currently ongoing.
