Kogi State Governor Idris Wada has directed that all completed government and community projects be put to use immediately, rather than wait for official commissioning.

Wada gave the directive at the weekend during the commissioning of Iknekpo cottage hospital and electricity projects executed by the community under the supervision of the Kogi Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA).

The governor lamented the non-utilisation of the facilities almost five months after completion, saying “it does not make sense to me that government and community jointly fund a project only for it to be left fallow. The project has been built for the benefit of our people, so don’t wait for commissioning because it is just a ceremony. The important thing is for people to be attended to”.

Wada directed the chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area to deploy personnel to the clinic so that work can commence.

Earlier, General Manager, KGCSDA, Mr James Odiba, said the health centre and electricity projects were executed at the cost of N9.7 million under the supervision of the agency through the Community-Driven Development Approach (CDD).
