Kogi State correspondent of the Vanguard Newspaper, Mr Boluwaji Obahopo, has expressed profound gratitude to Nigerians and Governor Yahaya Bello for their financial and moral support to enable his his wife undergo spinal decompression and fixation surgery.

In a appreciation message sent to KogiReports on Friday, Obahopo said he was overwhelmed with the show of love extended to him by Nigerians, many of whom did not know him personally.

He said his wife, who was involved in a fatal road accident ten days ago, had a successful surgery yesterday and presently out of the intensive care unit.

“On Sunday, November 14, 2021, I came to you pleading for help. I sought your assistance for my wife who needed a total of N3,580,000 for surgery following an accident she was involved in 10 days earlier….and you responded. Within 72 hours the money was completed. Wao!

“Here is a big THANKS to you all! For those who shared the message on Facebook or other platforms, we say THANK YOU! From the ‘widow’s mite’ of N500 to the highest donation of N2.5m from the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, we take none for granted. You all made it happen.

“I have made collation of over 120 names of persons/groups, aside those who call in and does not want to be mentioned, who contributed in spite of the economic reality in the country. May I add that many of those names are unknown to me and I may not even meet them in life; yet, they donated. Indeed, ethnicity and religion lines does not compare to the true humanity’s spirit.

“For those who prayed, I felt your prayers; it worked ahead in many ways. And please don’t stop praying, as in couple of days the physiotherapy will commence and that is the point we are trusting God that he will regain her leg again.

“Like the Yoruba speaking people will say; ‘May we not repay each other with this type of kindness.’ May God bless you and grant you favour in all your ways,” he said.

He rolled out names of most of the donors:
