Serious crisis was witnessed in Ganaja community over the weekend when one Abdulsalam was wrongfully and forcefully installed as “Madaki of Ganaja”.

According to our source, the man named Alhaji Muhammed Abdulsalam was coronated as “Madaki of Ganaja” despite an earlier order from the State and Local Government to suspend any coronation from January till further notice until a further directive is given.

Ganaja is a growing community located in the northern axis of Ajaokuta district in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Kogi state.

From the information gathered, a letter from the Administrator of Ajaokuta two weeks back was addressed to the Area Commander, D.P.O of C Division, Traditional Council and other appropriate quarters was written to suspend any proposed coronation and turbaning till further notice especially in areas where crisis is unavoidable. The letter also voided all the coronations that have done since January,  2016 and further proposed.

According to the Administrator,  Ajaokuta LGA, Hon. Mustapha Aka’aba, the above directive was given when he got an intelligence tip that the indigenes weren’t happy about the proposed development which they feared could result to upheavals. They tagged the proposed title as political because the said title “Madaki ” is extremely alien to their culture and tradition; certainly not found in their history.

Prince Aka’aba said,  when the information of the proposed Coronation got to his table, he summoned the “Ohi of Eganyi” Alhaji Achuja Musa, who is a first class chief and doubles as the Chairman of the Traditional Council in Local Government . He debriefed him on the said tip and did mandate him they to suspend the coronation till further notice for security reasons and not to beat the State Government’s order that placed a halt on all coronations with effect from January 2016.

But as an act of saboteur & a way of turning deaf ears to orders from the authority, a particular group chose to ignore the directive and went ahead on the proposed coronation.

At the scene of the ceremony eye witness account confirms that the Ohi of Eganyi made a call to the Anagaku of Ganaja to immediately stay action. Noticing new development, the Anagaku and his cohorts decided to retreat into an inner room to hurriedly turban the alien Abdulsalam.

In a counter move, some angry youths who said in the history of Ganaja, they have never heard of the title “Madaki” said they are not happy with the said coronation but that the man Abdulsalam being coronated is an instrument intended to be used to subdue communities as far as from 200 Housing Estate (government quarters) to Emi Woro.

Such title never ever existed. They said, such act can never and will never be allowed.

Eye witness account testified that the coronation was Politically motivated. An event that was doctored and established by elements who still feel they can be counted worthy.

The Traditional Council and the Anagaku claim to be in the know of the suspension ban placed by the present government but the King and his ally were said to said that the Local and State Government are free to suspend them as they wish but that they have activated their intent and that settle it.

The coronation did not just hold but aggression were poured out against the easy going youths. These aggrieved youths decided to take the bull by the horn. When the crisis started a young man almost lost his life as he was brutally battered.

The Administrator Ajaokuta Local Government. Hon. Mustapha Aka’aba when contacted was bitter and unhappy.

These were his words “ This is so unruly, it is a pity some people haven’t come to terms with this Government of *NewDirection*. That anybody who chose to violate an order given by the Government should also be prepared to face the consequences as full wrath of the law will be unleashed on the person”.
