Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has approved the appointment of Mr. Dayo Thomas as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Kogi State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of The Graphic newspaper.
Similarly, the Governor approved the appointment of Mr. James Oyewole as the Executive Editor. Both appointments are with immediate effect.
Mr. Thomas, who hails from Yagba-East Local Government Area, replaces Mr. Donatus Okpe, whose tenure as MD/CEO, witnessed a turn-around in the fortunes of the newspaper.
Mr. Oyewole on the other hand, replaces Mr. Abel Ada-Musa, who would be remembered for launching the newspaper into the world of ICT.
Mr. Thomas, a graduate of University of Jos and China Foreign Affairs University, had piled his journalism trade with several national dailies, including This Day, Punch, National Interest and This Week magazine. The new MD/CEO also served as Director of Press and Communication to Senator Gbemisola Saraki and Senior Legislative Aide to former Senate President, David Mark at different times.
Until his elevation, Mr. Oyewole, a 1991 graduate of History from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who also holds a Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, joined The Graphic in 1996 as Reporter 1 and became Deputy Editor in 2012.
He had worked with the defunct National Concord and Independent Communications Network Limited, publishers of The News magazine and other stables before joining The Graphic. The BBC World Service/Times Journalism Institute-trained print journalist, hails from Ogori in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Meanwhile, Mr. Okpe has been deployed to the state Ministry of Information, while Mr. Ada-Musa has been moved to the State Council for Arts and Culture.
The changes, according to a statement from the Acting Head of Service, Mrs. H.O.K Lawal, take immediate effect.
