To boost farm yields in 2016, the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has approved the purchase of 2000 trucks of assorted fertiliser, in first instance for on-ward distributions to famers in the state.

Also, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Europe-based company; Taya JST to revitalise the Agbeji Organic Fertiliser Factory at Anyigba, while arrangements had been concluded to establish another fertiliser factory at Osara.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Water Resources, Hon David Apeh disclosed this in a brief chat with The Graphic in his office, while speaking on the Governor’s 100 days in office.

According to him, approval is the largest requisition by the state in recent times, stressing that a committee would soon be set up to work out the mode of distribution to farmers.

He further pointed out that it is not going to be business as usual and assured that the era of short-changing farmers in the chain of fertiliser supply and distribution in the state was over.

Hon. Apeh, who described the Governor’s 100 days in office as “eventful”, called for the support of all and sundry  in the renewed effort to build a vibrant Kogi State, stressing that there is need for all hands to be on deck in order to over-come the state’s many challenges.

According to him, the just concluded workers’ screening is another spectacular achievement of the present administration, expressing optimism that the exercise would go a long way to plug leakages in government resources which would be ploughed to other areas.

He went on to identify other areas of achievement by the Governor to include, the various road projects being undertaken, payment of salaries and the running of an all-inclusive government.
