The radio and television stations own by a former senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Tunde Ogbeha, have been set ablaze by unknown arsonists.
This has led to the closure of both stations indefinitely by the management.
Eyewitness account told our correspondent that the fire outbreak started at about 1pm on Sunday when security men attached to the station were not on their duty post.
The fire was said to have destroyed four Mikano generators used to power transmission equipment.
Observers believed that the fire outbreak might be politically motivated in view of the stations’ criticisms of the state government’s policies.
The private media organisation, is located on mount Patti alongside the Nigeria Television Authority and the state radio, Radio Kogi.
This is not the first time the media organisaion would suffer fire outbreak as it was gutted by fire in 2007 and 2009 after it was inaugurated by a former Senate President, David Mark.
The radio station, Grace 95FM, in the last few weeks had been critical of the state governments’ activities in the same way as Ogbeha had been very vocal in his remarks about the state government’s activities.
