The wife of Senator Smart Adyemi and Chairperson, Mannah Dew Charity Foundation, Mrs Yemisi Smart Adeyemi in her quest to alleviate poverty among widows donated freezers to about 40 widows last week.
She made the donation at a well attended quarterly program of the foundation at Royal Shekinah Grand Suites, Ilorin. Her husband, and Chairman Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Smart Adeyemi, CON and the First Lady of Kwara State, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed graced the occasion.
The State Coordinator, Deaconess Awe, in her address enjoined beneficiaries to make use of the gifts judiciously. She called on widows to pray for the Mrs Adeyemi and appealed to others to emulate her gestures.
The representative of the first lady, Mrs Paterson appreciated the effort of Mrs Adeyemi and all involved in putting a smile on the faces of the widows.
Senator Smart Adeyemi lauded the progressive actions by the present and immediate past governors of Kwara State. He assured Kwarans of his continued support as he hopes to play a positive role in the land where he has sojourned for long.
Senator smart promised his personal support for the foundation and assured that subsequent outings will witness improved and more enriching largesse to widows.
He urged the widows not to sell the freezers but rather be prudent in using it as a source of income.
In her speech, Mrs Yemisi Adeyemi explained that the Mannah Dew Charity Foundation is a non-profit organization, primarily established to care and promote entrepreneurial skills among widows in our community.
“Our vision is in line with Federal Government and State Government plan to reduce poverty, unemployment and to enhance the socio-economic development of the State through Private and Public Partnership Initiative” she said.
Aside the freezers, food items were also given to the widows.
Senator Smart Adeyemi, in support of his wife’s efforts gave out N5,000 to each widow present at the event.
Highlights of the programme includes song rendition by the Brass Band, Passover Ministry and a rib cracking drama by Laughing Gas.
