Every election cycle, the loudest voices tell Kogi Central who is supposed to win. This time they say it’s a two-way fight between the incumbent and the former governor. Kogi Central has never been a district that takes orders from noise.

Meet Senator Ahmed Salau Ogembe, the candidate who has already done the job.

He has served at every level that matters. Ogembe was once chairman of Okene Local Government and represented the district in the 8th National Assembly between 2015 and 2019. He knows what a council budget looks like from the inside, and he knows how to work the corridors of the Senate. No other candidate in this race brings both.

He has been in the room, and he has a record. Analysts note that he made his mark in the district with appreciable achievements during his term. Constituents don’t need to guess what an Ogembe senatorship looks like. They have seen it.

He walked away from a party that lost its way. When the PDP crisis deepened, Ogembe did not stay quiet and collect favours. He left after falling out with the party in 2025 and carried his people’s cause to the ADC. For voters tired of recycled promises from the same two machines, here is a man willing to stand on principle.

He is the unifying choice. Power brokers across the five local governments are pushing for the seat to be shared fairly, and not dominated by one council. Ogembe offers a seasoned leader, not a polarising one, who can speak to Okene, Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi and Ogori-Magongo alike.

And the political class is watching. While the front-runners trade blows over court cases and party crises, one district source puts it plainly: this may not be a straight fight between the APC and PDP candidates, and Ogembe could be the chief beneficiary of the drama.

Quiet campaigns win loud victories. In 2027, Kogi Central can choose the candidate with experience, a record and a clean break from politics as usual.

Ogembe is the surprise, and the answer.
