Members of Corps De Progressives in Nigeria have urged the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial district, Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan to focus on serving the interest of her constituents and to throw her weight behind the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kogi State in the spirit of unity of Ebiraland.

The group made the appeal through a statement signed by its President, Com. Yunusa Jimoh, and made available to the press in Lokoja on Wednesday.

While congratulating Akpoti on her recent victory at both the tribunal and appeal courts, the group disclosed that her “victory is seen as a clear stastament to Senator Akpoti’s acceptability and the trust she enjoys from the people.”

Corps De Progressives, a non-partisan and non-regional organization, expressed hope for a partnership with Senator Akpoti to advance the cause of humanity. They highlighted their previous projects, including poverty alleviation and support for education, and their dedication to building a better society and noted that Akpoti won her election because of her commitment to the district while appealing to her to let go of the past and focus on what will benefit the people of the central.

“In the spirit of unity and reconciliation, the group extended an olive branch to Senator Akpoti, acknowledging that her success was due to her perceived commitment to the development of Ebiraland. We urge her to set aside past disagreements and focus on the common ground that unites the people,” the statement said.

The statement also emphasized the importance of politicians treading the path of the people they represent, highlighting the unified stance of the Ebira people in supporting Ododo in the next Saturday election. The group appealed to Senator Akpoti to support the interest of her people and work towards peace and unity in the area.

Corps De Progressives also emphasized the need for collaborative leadership in order to achieve good governance and quality representation. They called for a renewed commitment to working together for the betterment of Ebiraland and Kogi State as a whole.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja, last week, declared Akpoti who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the duly elected candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial Election held in February 2023, dismissing the appeal filed by Abubakar Ohere of the APC.
