The Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Onuh Edoka, has appealed to the workers in the Local Government level to remain calm and law abiding.

Comrade Edoka made the appeal in a statement.

He said an 11-man committee set up by the organized labour and headed by Comrade Obaka Meliga had commenced work with a view to coming up with Labour position regarding the just released screening report.

The NLC Chairman in the statement acknowledged the untold hardship faced by workers as a result of the screening exercise, and noted that steps are being taken to address all the problems arising from the exercise.

Comrade Edoka said the committee had clearly gone out of its terms of references, going by public outcry and total condemnation that has trailed the released report.

He however, called on the state government to fasten the process of setting up of an Appeal Committee, which should this time around be decentralized to reduce the suffering of affected workers, who are still without salaries for several months now.

The NLC Chairman called on relevant stakeholders, especially religious and traditional rulers as well as the political class to immediately intervene before labour takes final position on the matter.
