One week ahead of National Assembly re-run elections, an advocate for Positive Change assemblage called Kogi Youth Power Shift, irrespective of what would be the outcome of the appellate Court, drum support for Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa as their preferred candidate for the February 20th National Assembly Rerun Elections in Kogi State.
Hon. Ahmed Tijani Yusuf Damisa, popularly called “Asuehi” is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituency in the forthcoming INEC carryover election following the Abuja appellate court’s nullification of the election that brought Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to office as a member representing the constituency at the lower house of the National Assembly in March 2015.
Kogi Youth Power Shift (KYPS) on the other hands is an advocate for positive change that played immense role during 2105 Governorship sprint by sensitizing the electorates and delegates of Kogi Central and West Senatorial Districts ahead the primary of each and respective party, and as well election, to vote for personality and ignore party. The group which is meant to be nonpartisan group except unanimously decided to follow a particular direction, played major role in the campaign course of the Just sworn-in Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello. KYPS believes in Good Governance, forthrightness and above all Equity, Justice and Fairness.
In an epistle signed by the State Co-ordinator, Prince Suleiman Adinoyi on behalf of the group, declared its total support for the candidacy of Hon. Tijani Damisa “Asuehi” in the February 20th carryover NASS election. KYPS also revealing its previous tête-à-tête said it has award anticipating Hon. Tijani Damisa for his meritorious achievements.
The correspondence reads: KYPS having inspected the antecedents of Hon. Ahmed-Tijani Damisa and found him worthy hereby moves for his support as its sole candidate for the Okene/Ogori Magongo House of Representatives in the impending re-run election.
In a further statement, KYPS further stated that the reason behind its endorsement is traceable to the Hon Tijani Damisa’s antecedents during his first tenure in 2011 where he proved to his constituency that, there are dividends in democracy, and his track records to the electorates which no one has ever done in the history of Okene/Ogori Magongo Constituency and Kogi Central at large. His exemplary leadership has indeed refurbished the image of Ebiras to an extensive world.
Hon Tijani Damisa’s antecedents can never be overemphasized capitalizing on how he has touched many lives positively. Aside his accessibility, he fought to improve the quality of primary education, combated for high-quality healthcare and Human Capacity Development.
ON EDUCATION, he provided scholarship to over 200 people across our constituency, constructed several blocks of classroom at Queens of Apostles College and GSS Ohiana , rehabilitated and equipped Standard Primary School Onyukoko, provided 105 computers to Abdul Azeez Attah Memorial College Okene, to make the school Information Communication Technology (ICT) up to standard and many more.
ON HEALTH, he provided free medical check-up and treatment for high blood pressure and diabetes; he equipped Okene General Hospital for better service delivery and patient outcome and also provided a platform for free surgeries for different disease conditions including restoring sight to more than 70 cataract blind persons.
On WATER, he commissioned two launches through the lower Niger River Basin aimed at getting to the roots of our water problems and provided portable drinking water through the provision of over thirty three (33) motorized boreholes across the constituency.
ON LEGISLATION, he sponsored bills such as “the establishment of functional and compulsory birth registration in Nigeria” and “the establishment of both state and government owned farms in Nigeria”, and several motion such as “creation of pedestrian bridge across the roads of FCE Okene and Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja respectively”, “Termination of the tenure of interim governing council of Ajaokuta Steel Company and Itakpe Iron Ore Mining Company”, “condemnation of job racketeering in the civil service of Nigeria”, and “a motion to condemn the activities of Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria”.
Conclusively, the goal of a better society can neither be achieve based on abhorrence or false promises, clannish nor religious sentiment, BUT a conscious and dedicated effort as always believes anchored on bottomless obligation to the wellbeing of the personality like Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa “Asuehi”. We in KYPS are already working to make you victorious once again. Go Tijani-Damisa (Asuehi).
