The Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Alhaji Aliyu Baba Usman, has applauded the Executive Governor Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for the optimism and vigour with which he has commenced his reign at the helms of affairs, saying that early signs have shown the people of the state are in for good governance.
Alhaji Aliyu, who made the commendation in a Press Statement signed by his Media Assistant, Yabagi Mohammed, praised the governor as a youth with focus and determination to transform the state into an industrial hub of the country.
The Chairman, who commended the prompt decision of the governor to recall elected Chairmen in the state to their offices as had been earlier been directed by the courts, said Alhaji Yahaya has shown himself as a man who matches his words with action.
He said: “You will recall that the governor has earlier in his address immediately after swearing-in stated that he would lead the state in accordance with the provision of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and with the model that had earlier been adopted by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
“He has matched his words with action by recalling all of us Chairmen back to our offices, which is a decision that shows the kind of person he is- a man who understands the importance of the grassroots to the overall governance in the country.”
The Lokoja Local Government Chairman who further referred to the appointments made so far by the governor, described Alhaji Yahaya Bello as a detribalized leader, who made history by ensuring equity in his appointments so far.
He said the governor, who has received wide commendation from the people of Kogi State from wide and near over the appointment of Hon Edward Onoja as Chief of Staff, said by that action, the governor has been able to look beyond ethnicity, tribe and religion, a trait that he described as “rare.”
While calling on the people of the state to give their unalloyed support to the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello in his efforts to reposition the state, Alhaji Aliyu called on the youths in Lokoja LGA to continue to give their unalloyed support to the new administration.
He therefore assured the governor of the determination of his government to replicate the policy of the administration, and solicited for special consideration for Lokoja LGA as the capital of the state.
