Rape Allegation: Publisher Calls for Arrest, Prosecution of Kogi Commissioner

The publisher of The Policy & Lawmaker Magazine, Prince Friday Ogungbemi has called for the arrest and prosecution of Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulmumin Danga over allegations that he abducted, batter and rape a beauty queen in the state.

Ogungbemi called on Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to suspend Danga from the state executive council.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Sunday, Ogungbemi said the image of the state government and it citizens will be continuously damaged and bastardized if the Commissioner remains in office while the investigation is ongoing.

He explained that the call for Danga’s suspension is to allow for a fair hearing, justice and to equally enable the law enforcement agents adequate level ground to thoroughly investigate the matter.

“On behalf of the entire concerned citizens of Kogi State we are calling upon the Kogi State Government to relieve the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Abdulmumini Danga of his position in the State Executive Council pending the outcome of the investigation of assault, battery and rape scandal against Miss. Elizabeth Oyeniyi. 

“The Commissioner should simply be arrested and subjected to the conditions that enable the law enforcement agents to carry out proper investigation on the matter.

“The suspension of the Commissioner from office will serve as a deterrent to him and other public officials that will see themselves as been above the law and conduct themselves in an unlawful manners in one way or the others.

“The Kogi State Government is equally advised to purged itself of people with criminal tendencies and bedeviled with lawlessness, in order to launder its image and that of its citizens,” he said.
