The wife of the member representing Ankpa 2 state constituency at the Kogi State house of assembly, Mrs Lucia Rabiu Alfa has donated items worth millions of naira to widows, orphans and less privileged across Ankpa Local government area of Kogi State.
The donations which included food items, toiletries, laundry utilities, notebooks, education accessories and cash was flagged off at governor’s lodge Ankpa, Ankpa Local government area of Kogi State in collaboration with her counterparts Mrs Amina Mohammed and Hajiya Halima Muhammad Ibrahim, wives of the member representing Ankpa 1 constituency at the Kogi State house of assembly and the administrator of Ankpa Local government respectively.
As customary and courtesy demanded, the trio donors sequentially visited the palace of Onu Ankpa and Onu Enjema for homage and to seek royal blessing from the traditional rulers before commencing donation at their various districts.
The Onu Ankpa, HRH Alhaji Abdulmalik Umar who expressed his support and solidarities thanked this visitors while informing then that the action is indeed a commendable one. His counterpart, the Onu Enjema could not control his anxiousness as he called on those within position of governance to emulate the initiative.
While making the donations, Mrs Lucia noted that the gesture was deliberate efforts to complement the goodwill of her principal, Hon Alfa Mommoh Rabiu toward touching the lives and welfare of their constituents noting that the outreach shall be a continuos process as time and finance will permit. She further stressed that the recession has made virtually everything difficult but expressed hope that good days are close.
In her words “without your support and goodwill, we won’t have been were we are today, so take this as a little token from us especially as everything have gone up because of the present recession. What is important for you to know is that a friend that gives you bicycle can be trusted for a car when things are in order. This is just the beginning and by God’s will, this gesture shall be a continuos process as often as we can”.
Among the several beneficiaries were Widows from Enjema Ward 1,2,3 4, and Ojoku Ward 1,2,3,4 whom were invited down to the Ankpa Local government Secretariat together with their counterparts from the five wards of Ankpa 1 constituency to make the initiative an all inclusive one.
In her remarks; Mrs Agnes Abdul Adams, the proprietress of Ojima-Ojo foundation and orphanage thanked the visitors for their warm hands of giving noting that they have actually exemplified the reason for the season saying the main essence of Easter is to show and spread love.
On her part, the APC women leader of Ankpa Local government, Hajiya Mariam who spoke on behalf of the Widows and other beneficiaries extolled the kindness and assured them that their efforts is never in vein because whoever assists a widow have assisted God and God does not fail his promise of rewarding good with good.
