On behalf of my family, I congratulate the Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni. Unlike many have seen, I think the right time has come for Prof to show his skills as an administrator and academic. The wait or delay was good enough, it has given him time to prepare for the new job and as a champion, I am confident he will deliver very well.
As a civil servant who worked and was known for his powerful ideas in the Foreign Affairs Ministry and a Professor of Public Sector Accounting, many have expected that his perfect assignment was very easy. However, we must see this as a replacement of our dear minister who died last year. As for Professor, we need not to be worried of any assignment he is given, he is champion of many fields.
Professor Ocheni has joined this government as a big plus. With the current problem we are having on cross-border corruption, his experience as a civil servant in the foreign affairs ministry and as a Professor of PSA is a perfect match. Though he may not be the finance minister, he has a lot to give to this government.
Professor Ocheni is a very gentleman, humble and humorous, as a young academic I have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with him with so many of his good advises.
Let me also thank Governor Yahaya Bello who looked through the thin line to go for the best, I believe the new minister is a perfect replacement for Ocholi (of blessed memory) who was loved by all.
Also, big thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari and Acting President Osinbajo for his nomination and confirmation.
From My family and I, I once again congratulate you sir on this well deserving appointment. May God lead you aright to give the best to the people of this country.
