Prince Gowon Enenche, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, has called for the urgent establishment of a fully functional fire service station in Ankpa following the devastating fire outbreak that destroyed the residence of the Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Council, Engineer Ademu Yahaya.
In a heartfelt statement issued on Wednesday, Enenche described the incident as a painful tragedy that underscored the glaring absence of critical emergency response infrastructure in Ankpa, insisting that the scale of destruction could have been significantly reduced if a functional fire service station had been operational in the area.
The SDP standard-bearer expressed profound sympathy with the council chairman, describing the inferno as a traumatic experience that no individual should endure.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Council, my brother Engineer Ademu Yahaya, over the devastating fire outbreak that gutted his residence yesterday,” he stated.
He added that witnessing years of personal investment reduced to ashes was an emotional burden that demanded collective compassion and solidarity from the people.
Beyond extending condolences, Enenche seized the opportunity to advocate for deliberate government intervention, stressing that Ankpa—an ancient, historic and rapidly expanding town—deserves access to modern emergency response facilities capable of protecting lives and property.
He appealed to elected representatives at both the state and federal levels to urgently initiate legislative measures that would facilitate the establishment of a standard fire service station in Ankpa.
According to him, the absence of fire suppression infrastructure has continued to expose residents to avoidable disasters, describing the situation as unacceptable for a community of Ankpa’s strategic importance.
Enenche further revealed that the challenge of inadequate emergency response facilities had long occupied his thoughts, noting that he had personally explored ideas on how such infrastructure could be established even before seeking elective office.
He maintained that it is precisely these developmental deficiencies that inspired his decision to join public service, pledging to champion practical solutions that would address longstanding infrastructural gaps across the federal constituency.
Offering prayers for the council chairman, Enenche prayed that Almighty Allah would grant Engineer Ademu Yahaya the strength to overcome the painful experience and restore everything destroyed by the inferno.
He reaffirmed his solidarity with the chairman, declaring that the people stand united with him during this difficult period while reiterating his commitment to pursuing policies that would strengthen disaster preparedness and public safety in Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency.
