The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday called for a review the Kogi and Bayelsa governorship polls, stressing that the country under the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government is degenerating into a situation where elections can no longer hold.

Acting National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Uche Secondus, who stated this at the commencement of a three-day constitution review of the party, also stated that neither the National Working Committee (NWC) nor the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to speak out on the arms deal scandal.

The PDP in conjunction with the International Republican Institute (IRI) are engaged in the amendment of the party’s constitution.

Secondus, who lamented the spate of violence that was witnessed during the last elections and the spate of inconclusive elections in both states, cautioned that the country might become like Zimbabwe.

He said, “I think the government should sit back and review the past elections, and do post-mortem in the case of Kogi and Bayelsa. If care is not taken, it is either we are degenerating into a situation where we can no longer conduct elections. You recall that in the case of Kogi, election in that state was conducted twice, the case of Bayelsa, the election was conducted twice.”
