I have come to realize that in a developing country like Nigeria, the best way a man can succeed is by investing on what he knows best…..75% youths of Nigerians today thought of being a business man but they are risk dodgers. Also, 70% youths plans of venturing into business but they are being depressed by the Societal Imposed Factors.
Factor like Get Rich quick syndrome such as Yahoo’s (Internet fraudsters), ritualist and other vices that vest in money within a short period.
It is glaring that youths of nowadays never plan to work hard to earn monies but they are interested in soft works. This aforementioned factors serve as a major drawback on teeming youth planning to become an entrepreneur. They sees entrepreneurship as a long term earnings because they are being aware of what earns quicker than this. Not realizing that it takes every successful man long duration of time before He succeed because it is never a day job. An
adage says that Owo ta ba sise fun loun pelowo eni (the money we work for stays longer). Being an entrepreneur you have to persevere, be determined and hard working.
An Entrepreneur, is an opportunity seeker, risk taker, change nothing to something, An entrepreneur is a solution provider to all weaknesses and threats in an organization. One thing that differentiate an entrepreneur with an ordinary person is that they sees opportunity in danger while an ordinary person sees danger in opportunity. As a
Social entrepreneur, you provide solutions to all the societal problems. Be an entrepreneur, so that a nation can hardly do without you.
An entrepreneur impact in a nation economy is ⅔ of the government contributions. An entrepreneur is an employer of labor where others are seeking for jobs they plan of being a job creator. They contribute immensely to the growth of the nation through their perfect services rendered (social entrepreneur), perfect goods sold, payment of tax to
the government and provision of employment opportunities for skilled, semi skilled and unskilled labors.
Another challenges is that, prospective entrepreneurs today, are being debilitated with self imposed factors such as fear of capital, fear of risk, procrastination, indecision and so on.
If you re to ask a businessman to tell you about risk, he will say he loves it and can never do without it. For an entrepreneur to succeed in a business you have to take a calculated risk that will secure your capital in case of default to arrive at break even.
According to Walter Scott, he said “One hour of life, crowded to the full with glorious action, and filled with noble risks, is worth whole years of those mean observances of paltry decorum”. I thought about how to make it
real in life but I learnt that without risk you can’t succeed in life which means risk is 70% assurance to make a poor man become wealthy in a twinkle of an eye and also can make a wealthy man become poor when taking a foolish risk(Risk on Gambling). When we say risk, there are two types of economic risk which are Speculative risk and pure risk.
Speculative risk is type of economic risk that deals with uncertainty of profit or loss while pure risk is an insurable risk that deal with loss or no loss (meant for insurance). One of the major thing a teeming youth should take note is embarking on a speculative risk which may in turns offset a position of break even while not making profit or loss.
I personally see taking risk is the act of letting go of something you are certain of and reaching for something you are not sure of but believe it is better than what you have now. Every risk situation has an unavoidable loss. Something has to be given up to move forward.
Success depends more on your willingness to risk than being concerned about what happens if you fail. Another major challenge in a Business today is the fear of failure. I wonder how a person who want to become an entrepreneur do not aim to fail simultaneously. Failure and success are two inseparable phenomena that can never do without each other because failure serves as a lesson to success. People learn from failure in other not to arrive at the previous state. Like a say goes”Failure is the opportunity to begin again”
And lastly, procrastination has been an awful virus killing a teeming youth from starting a business I will say procrastination and indecision are related terms that depressed people from venturing into a business.
80% Youths of nowadays plans to go into a business but 55% implement on the decision. Procrastination as an act of postponing one’s task and not really certain of making it done or achieved at the postponed date. Procrastination bring about laziness, lack of commitment and indecisive. This is relatively common among teeming youths, they
postpone their task against other day due to laziness and undetermined.
These aforementioned factors are the drawbacks of becoming a successful entrepreneur of which can be reduced and eliminated gradually due to one’s Determination, hardworking, commitment and perseverance. let’s all emulate a great entrepreneur styles. There is nothing difficult for a willing heart, no Mountain a man cannot climb, no river he cannot cross if he puts his mind.
