Onu Igala Lokoja Constitute Advisory Council, Calls for Peace, Unity

The Onu Igala Lokoja, HRH Akpah Joseph, has appealed to Igala speaking people of Kogi state to shun bitterness and embrace peace and unity for Igala race to restructure their house and dwell in it.

The monarch made the appeal while inaugurating a 7-member Advisory Council at Onu Igala’s palace in Lokoja on Tuesday.

Akpah, who holds the Omachi Attah Igala title, said the time has come for people of Igala ethnic tribe to close ranks and speak in one voice for the progress of the land.

He commended members of advisory council that consists of seasoned and experienced hands, including retirees from different fields of human endeavour who had made their marks in their chosen profession, for accepting to serve, despite their loaded schedules in the societal affairs.

He stated that in life everyone is known by his character expression, and is not hidden from glare of the society,  stressing that the choice of the 7 persons for the advisory council was based on their merit, which has structure of humanity, selflessness and experience needed to be on the royal board.

“We will build our house, and settle in it. We won’t build house and others will occupy it. I may not be seen as a compromising type, but I respect constituted authority. 

“As a journalist, I am a watch dog of the society. I am guided by my profession and experience of life. It is my wish that you bring your wealth of experience to bear in this assignment to move Igala speaking people in Lokoja, at home and diaspora forward.

“Today, on 19 October 2021, I, HRH Joseph Akpah, Onu Igala Lokoja and Omachi Attah Igala hereby inaugurate you as my advisory council members. To God be the glory,” he expressed. 

The 7-member Advisory council includes, Alhaji Sani Ademu, Mr Jacob Umoru, Comrade Emmanuel Omattah, HRH, Mrs Grace Akowe, representative of Igala Elders’ Consultation Forum, Abimaje Andrew, Barr William Ameh and Yusuf Abdul, including representative of ICDA and youth leader.

Speaking on behalf of the 7-member advisory council, Jacob Umoru commended Onu Igala Lokoja, HRH Joseph  Akpah for deeming them fit to be appointed as members of his council, saying that they will strive not to betray the trust reposed on them. He prayed for wisdom to guide Onu Igala Lokoja in the course of his service to humanity.
