The feat achieved by Governor Yahaya Bello in the conception and completion of Omi Rice Project has been described as another agricultural revolution that would put Kogi state on the world map of agriculture and rice production.

A one time member of the House of Representative, Hon. Abdulazeez Idris King, stated this after joining Governor Bello to inspect and test run the rice mill in Ejiba on Tuesday.

Hon. Idris King said: “I am dazed by this agricultural revolution. This is mind blowing and it is encouraging that Kogi has been placed on the world map

“This achievement, to me, beats whatever may have been said to have been achieved in the past. This is because, aside creating jobs for our teeming unemployed youths, we’ll have food in homes and income generation for our state.”

The former lawmaker noted that the 50 tonnes per day Rice Mill, which will be churning out at least 1,000 bags of 50kg  processed rice daily, that is 6,000 bags of rice weekly and 24,000 bags of rice monthly, has a financial implication as over N300,000,000.00 will be injected into the state economy monthly.

Hon. King added that the mill has 500 Kilowatt Bio-gasification plant that will power the plant and the host communities and to take care of power generation and distribution, lauded the direct and indirect job creation of the rice mill.

He commended the governor for scoring yet another plus and for adding more feathers to his ancestral cap.
