A Socio-cultural organisation from Kogi West Senatorial District, Okun Today, has strongly come to the defense of Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the November 21, 2016 governorship election, Hon James Faleke against allegations that he granted an interview shortly after the Appeal Court judgement last week which was interpreted as an attack against President Muhammadu Buhari.
The group in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief Lanre Ojutayo said Hon Faleke had the highest respect for the person and office of President Buhari and would do no such thing.
The Statement said rather than blame Faleke, all men of goodwill and good conscience should shift the blame to Senator Dino Melaye whose role in the whole governorship mess leaves much to be desired.
“Hon Faleke only called on Mr President to rein in some of his aides and close associates like Dino who have been boasting to high heavens about how Faleke’s case before the Tribunal would go no where. Hon Faleke as President Buhari’s Campaign Manager in Lagos State holds the President in the highest esteem as a man of impeccable character and integrity. How could he turn round to attack him? What Hon Faleke wanted was for Mr President to call characters like Dino and some partisan Ministers to order to avoid undue interference in the activities of the judiciary “.
“We recall the recent Okun Development  Association(ODA) meeting Dino attended shortly before the Appeal Court judgement  where he boasted that Faleke should not stress himself much at the Appeal as the powers that be have already concluded the case against him. Interestingly, two of the judges on the Appeal Panel that gave Dino favourable judgement last year were also on the Appeal panel of Hon Faleke last week! We would not also easily forget Dino’s boastful utterances during last year’s Iyara Day Celebrations where he boasted that his Appeal was a foregone conclusion and that other litigants should forget getting any positives from the Tribunal”.
According to Chief Ojutayo, President Buhari should discountenance those enemies of progress trying to whip up undue sentiments as “Hon Faleke whom he trusted with his campaign in Lagos State is still the same Hon Faleke today. He is as loyal to Mr President as anything. All Faleke craves for is fair judgement from all concerned “.
